A jury today convicted a former first-grade teacher of stealing a student’s coat and trying to sell it on eBay.
Elizabeth Lucinda Logan, 42, will be sentenced Nov. 20 on charges of attempted first-degree theft, computer crime and third-degree theft. Computer crime is a Class C felony punishable by probation and up to 30 days in jail. The others are misdemeanors punishable by probation.
Jurors found that she took a student’s ski jacket and tried to sell it on the online auction site. Prosecutor Jason Ring said a third-grader left her coat on the playground at Jackson Elementary School during recess Jan. 10, and Logan took it within minutes and placed it on eBay the next day.
Logan said the school janitor told her she could have two coats from lost and found in December.
