A piece of Kentucky Derby history is up for bid, starting at $100,000.
Connie Peters, the daughter of Robert E. Lehmann, who owned 1970 Kentucky Derby winner Dust Commander, is offering a copy of the winner’s trophy on the online auction site eBay, The Courier-Journal of Louisville reported on its Web site. The original trophy is in the Kentucky Derby Museum.
As of early Tuesday afternoon, no one had bid in the auction, which closes Wednesday, according to eBay’s Web site.
It’s not the first time the trophy has been put up for bid, said Jay Ferguson, a museum curator. The trophy has gone up for bid at least two other times, most recently last summer, Ferguson said
