Press Release

Francophone Canadians today gained enhanced
access to the world’s largest online marketplace with the launch of eBay
Canada in French.
The French-language site kicked off today in Montreal with a live charity
event at the Sainte-Justine University Hospital Centre, featuring Montreal’s
star goalie Cristobal Huet. More than 775,000 Quebecois who already buy and
sell on eBay can now choose to do so in French and can search, shop, and ship
to eBay’s global community of over 212 million registered users.
“Francophone Canadians have made a significant contribution to the growth
of eBay Canada, and we’re excited to offer them a site that meets their needs
directly,” says Jordan Banks, managing director of eBay Canada. “Being able to
navigate the site in French opens up a world of global e-commerce for
francophone Canadians who want to do business in a safe, easy, and secure
environment.”
