eBay defends scalpers’ ads

ONLINE auction site eBay has threatened legal action against Cricket Australia over its public criticism of scalpers using the service to sell tickets.
The Herald Sun believes eBay is weighing up its legal options.
It follows a Herald Sun investigation into scalpers who are using eBay to mark up ticket prices by as much as 1000 per cent for the Ashes series and other events.
“eBay has done nothing wrong and Cricket Australia need to ask how did people get so many tickets in the first place,†eBay spokesman Daniel Feiler said last night.
But Cricket Australia again demanded eBay pull the scalpers’ ads.
“eBay is the one who’s breaching the contract under the terms and conditions by allowing scalpers to charge genuine cricket fans higher than face value prices,†CA spokesman Peter Young said.
