Opera Mini mobile browser for eBay

Opera Software ASA will provide a custom version of its Mini mobile Web browser for a new wireless version of eBay’s service in Germany.

The online auction company, which claims 20 million registered users in Germany, will reportedly pay Opera based on the volume of Internet transactions made through Opera’s software. The service is set to launch later this month.

The move marks a new distribution strategy for Opera, which also offers browsers for PCs and smart phones. The developer has gained traction licensing its software to phone manufacturers and platform developers, and earlier this year struck a deal with T-Mobile International to pre-load its Java-based Mini application onto three handset models in Europe.
