Piece of New York Yankees History for eBay Auction

Pubished July 1st, 2009

Yankees-Steiner Collectibles, the exclusive provider of game-used memorabilia from the old and current Yankee Stadium, has teamed with Auction Cause, a premier auction management agency to offer fans the opportunity to own the sod where Yankees legends stood to say their final goodbyes to their beloved Stadium.

Stamped on the grass behind home plate, the Interlocking ‘NY” was an iconic element to the House that Ruth Built™. Yankee™ greats routinely walked by this logo en route to four World Championships in the 90’s. The interlocking NY was a signature piece of Yankee Stadium™, something that has been replicated in 2009 inside the new stadium across the street.

One lucky Yankees fan will win the legendary piece of real estate and transplant it into their own yard or local ball field. Painted on the actual 20″ x 20″ plot of sod from the area behind home plate, this one-of-a-kind item will come with the official Yankee™ interlocking NY stencil, white sod paint, lawn flag, special grass seed, and Yankees-Steiner Letter of Authenticity. Delea Sod Farms, the official sod farm of the NY Yankees™ will provide instructions to properly transplant the living sod and maintain it for years to come.

The auction will run on eBay from June 29th – July 9th and can be found by visiting http://www.ebay.com/yankeeslogo or http://members.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewUserPage&userid=steiner_sports

“The closing of the original Yankee Stadium marked the end of an era in sports history, but today is the beginning of an unprecedented opportunity for people throughout the world to own a piece of America’s past and the great Yankees tradition,” said Brandon Steiner, Founder and CEO of Steiner Sports. “For nine decades, Yankee Stadium was home to the most successful and glorious franchise in all of sports. Legendary heroes such as Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Mickey Mantle, Yogi Berra, Joe DiMaggio, Reggie Jackson and Derek Jeter were a part of this beloved Stadium which can now live on in each fan’s household.”

“We are excited to give our great fans a chance to take home a piece of the Yankee Stadium legacy through this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,” said New York Yankees Chief Operating Officer Lonn A. Trost. “These treasures allow the Yankees’ legacy to live on and provide fans with keepsakes they can pass along from generation to generation.”

Yankees-Steiner Collectibles, originally created in 2004, is a partnership between the New York Yankees and Steiner Sports to provide sports fans with unique access to New York Yankees memorabilia and experiences.

Proceeds from the online auction will benefit Family Services of Westchester. A winning eBay bidder and up to 7 of their friends will be having a 3 hour lunch with Warren Buffett at the Smith & Wollensky Restaurant in New York. While the most expensive lunch item on Smith & Wollensky’s menu is only $59, for the Australian lobster tail. The $1.6 Million winning bid (which is donated to charity) appears to be a good deal compared to last years top bid.

According to James Massey, publisher of www.WhatSellsBest.com, a website which tracks the current Top 20 best selling eBay items. “Last years winner paid $2.1 Million, so it appears this years winner got their lunch at a discount”

Lunch with Warren Buffett eBay Auction

Pubished June 26th, 2009

The auction is 100% charity. All proceeds will go to the Glide Foundation. Which works to alleviate human suffering in the San Francisco Bay area. The winner and up to 7 guests will get to sit down with Mr. Buffett for lunch.

The bidding started at $25,000 and looks like it could go as high as $500,000. That would be an expensive date. Wouldn’t half a million dollars constitute at least dinner instead of lunch?

Zippi Expands Beyond eBay Marketplace

Pubished June 19th, 2009

Zippi Networks Inc. a leading provider of mobile commerce applications that enable Americans to recycle their “Clutter into Cash,” today announced they have begun listing more items on Craigslist rather than a traditional style eBay auction. Zippi is sighting several eBay policy’s that continue to restrict the selling process, incur unnecessary fee’s, and ultimately have lead to the suspension of its eBay seller account.

The company has stated its move to Craigslist was planned, but has come at a time that was not forecasted. As Zippi is continuing its radio advertising test through June, “PowerSeller” Sara Stewart has been hard at work growing Zippi’s eBay Pro Store as well as listing items on eBay and Craigslist. Certain recent transactions completed by Mrs. Stewart have resulted in the wrongful termination of Zippi’s current eBay seller account; the issue revolves around legitimate and authentic (with proof) used “Chanel” and other high end brand merchandise being listed and sold on eBay and scrutinized as non-authentic. Mrs. Stewart has received positive feedback on the sales and Zippi has collected monies for these sales. Management contends they will continue working toward resolution with eBay on an issue that will most certainly continue to grow as item owners look to Zippi, to turn Clutter of many varieties into Cash.

Robert A. Rositano Jr. CEO Zippi Networks, Inc. stated, “Collectively my brother and I have worked with eBay since 1999, alongside the eBay team we co-developed some of the first training tools to teach individuals how to bid, buy, and sell on eBay’ marketplace. We set out to bring unique items back to eBay and return it to its roots, the auction style community of ’stuff’ we have all collected and had passed on for years. Our test marketing efforts continued to produce frustrated eBay sellers that sited restrictive policies and earning limitations based on these policies, this feedback became a driving force in the development of Zippi Networks. It seems that we have now fallen victim to similar frustrations with eBay which are now limiting our business and turning a positive transaction into negative press for the company. We view these changes as positive and will ultimately expand our capabilities, Zippi has taken immediate action to adjust our business model accordingly and will keep our shareholders informed of these adjustments and any resolution on the matter above,” added Rositano, CEO Zippi Networks, Inc.

Pubished June 19th, 2009

Vendio Services, Inc. today announced that its popular eBay market research tool, Vendio Research, was named the runner up for Most Innovative application in the 2009 eBay Star Developer awards.

Each year, eBay recognizes developers and organizations from the eBay Certified Providers and Developers Program honoring tools and companies that contribute to improving user experience and customer service, increasing platform engagement and extending eBay in exciting new directions.

This is the third time Vendio has received an eBay Star Developer award.

“Vendio Research was originally conceived even before eBay provided sales data to enable more efficient trading on their marketplace. We are happy to receive this recognition for the continued innovation we bring to our analytics offerings alongside eBay’s own expansion of their data license program. We look forward to implementing even more new ideas that can put Vendio on top in 2010!” –Mike Effle, EVP eCommerce Platform

Vendio Research utilizes the eBay API to mine and archive data from thousands of closed eBay listings. The application enables sellers to conduct market research of the eBay marketplace and get product or category data related to success rates, pricing, listing best practices, and competitors, helping sellers plan better merchandising strategies and increase their profitability.
Recently added features to the Vendio Research application during the past year include:

* eBay Motors Data — vehicles and automotive accessories eBay research data is available exclusively through Vendio Research
* Competitive Seller Data — Vendio Research enables sellers to search for any eBay seller to see how they price items and view success rates.
* “Smart Research” Data Clustering — Intelligently classifies product results into like-categories or clusters, providing the most accurate data possible for a given product search. For example, in a search for iPod, the results won’t be mixed with data from iPod accessories.
